Our clients have extended a 1600s farmhouse with a sympathetic oak-framed extension, which houses the kitchen, kitchen snug and master bedroom suite. They had all the main components but needed some help bringing the old and the new together.
To maximise the beautiful light, countryside views, and keep the sunshine feel all year round, we used a colour palette of blues, greys, yellows and oranges, with soft neutrals running throughout. We also used repeated graphic shapes to create a flow and the hexagon features strongly - from the new terracotta hallway tiles, to re-upholstery of treasured family chairs, to blinds and curtains. We also recommended aged wide oak boards in both the new and old parts of the house to tie it all together.
It is wonderful to see a period property not only brought back to life, but suitably added-to and enhanced for modern living.
