If you are sourcing for your Country or Shaker-style kitchen, chances are a butler/belfast sink will be high on your list. There are actually many types, from the plain side-drainers though to the apron style and double sinks. We, however, are always lead by our hearts when it comes to sinks because, let's be honest, no one considers a sink to be a thing of beauty. But why shouldn't we? Despite it being such a functional item, you should use this opportunity to have something beautiful instead of something plain. Below are some of our favourites which are both functional, as well as beautiful.
Villeroy & Boch Butler 90 2.0 bowl Ceramic Sink
This double-bowl sink, in Alpine White, with integrated strainer is our most functional choice as it has everything you need, and the different compartments will make washing up seem like a dream. Available from Kitchen Sinks & Taps.
Shaws of Darwen Ribchester 800 Double Bowl (also available in 1000)
This fluted beauty, by Shaws of Darwen, is from the same family as the Bowland sink, featured at the top in the deVOL showroom image, but is a curvier shape. They are both handmade by craftsmen using the same traditional methods utilised since 1897.
Chambord Louis II Chateau Kitchen Sink
For an even more defined fluted front, have a look at the Chambord Louis II Chateau Kitchen Sink, available at Sinks.co.uk. It's a bit bolder and more graphic than the Ribchester above and would suit a larger kitchen space.
Copper Butler / Belfast Sinks
Copper sinks (as seen above in this gorgeous kitchen by Middleton Bespoke), are just gorgeous. Prices used to be fairly prohibitive but, as they had increased in popularity, prices have come down and you can find a good selection of sizes at Sinks.co.uk.
