We're thinking about experimenting with some brick lime-washing on our next project. We love this technique because you don't lose the rustic feel of exposed brickwork but it makes it just that bit more modern. Looks great in urban, traditional or rustic settings, internally or externally. And as you can see from the examples below (all via Pinterest), you can achieve various translucencies, from light to almost opaque. If anyone has anyone lime (or white) washing experience, we'd love to hear about it in the comments below.
